The things that I found most interesting from reading other classmates blogs was how each of us inturpreted the skills that we were taught in class. And also how each of us had differnt ideas on how we were going to use the skills one we become teachers.
I would like to learn next the programs that are used as a gradebook. I think that it is a very good resourse to know how to use, since now all teachers do their grades on the computer.
I might achieve my future education technology-related goals by working with the new technology that i learned how to use and also researching other forms of educational technology.

The website http://www.suelebeau.com/ has a link to it with "free tools for teachers" these tools include, creating quizzes, worksheets, making games and puzzles, creating certificates, and surveys and forms. All of these tools are very helpful to a teachers. This website can help any teacher who is stuck and needs new fresh ideas in a quick and east way. As long as the teacher knows the information the website can help you organize it and make it east and readable for the students.
Even though after going through this class I can do many of the things that the tools offer by using Microsoft programs, such as word, excel and PowerPoint. For the teachers who are not proficient in these ares the website comes in handy very much. Another classmate found this same website, so it must be a good one.
As a teacher I will use excel when needing to make sheets for students grades. Or even make a chart to show my students certain data in an easy and readable way. When teaching a fourth grade math and science class I can use excel to teach the students the different types of graphs possible and an easy way to use them when they have to make their annual science fair projects.
For my groups final project we are going to make a budget for a yearbook class. We are going to buy new cameras, camera cases, printers, scanners, ink, paper, and software. We are going to be producing fifty copies of the book but only for the seniors since it is a high school in a very small town.

I am a beginner at making presentations with software, and for beginners there are five criteria one needs to follow for grading. The first is "Development of presentation" this means: the student has developed an idea for the map and represented both main ideas for the menu screen and detail for information screens. I think I did this very well, my idea for my presentation was a game which asked questions about the Disney princesses, every slide had information pertaining to that topic. The Second is "writing" this means; the student is writing to the standard of the grade level. I also believe that I did this. My writing was a little juvenile but that is because it is for elementary students. The third is "Navigation" this means; The student has a main menu from which the user chooses the season to display. The season on the main meur are in order. For my presentation the menu was the game board and all of it was very organized and each button took you to the correct page. The forth is " Content" this means; all content is coverd and is illustrated with two or more of the following ways is representing information: text, graphichs, video, audio, or animation. In my presentsation I represented my information in all of those ways. The fifth criteria is "Screen design" this means; the student has followed the rules of screen design that the teacher has choosen to emphasis in this presentation. I used the correcrt screen design and one rule that our teach emphasiszed was no too many words on each slide, and I did that very well.
I can intergrate perpherals into my classroom with non-computer audio-visuals by using a camera to take a picture of something then print it out (two peripherals) and then using an over head projector (non-computer audio-visual) to show and talk about the picture. I can use them with computer based technologies becasue almost all peripherals can be hooked up into the computer.
This last week I learned how to use powerpoint presentation. I had never really used it before, but all of it will be very helpful in my educational career becasue many teachers require makes presentations and explain them to the class.

The biggest advantage of using presentation software in a classroom is that it is more simple for the student to read the notes and information that is being presented. Also it is a huge advantage for the teacher becasue this way he/she can make an exciting lesson plan in advance for his/her classroom. Disadvantes of using a presenation software is that some teachers will present the notes but not talk about them because they are already in front of you.
A paragraph on how you might use PowerPoint to support student learning at each knowledge dimension in a particular lesson. Be explicit in your example! Use Chapter 5 and online resources.
An issure realted to educational technology that interests me is keeping grades on the computer, I know that it is not educational in the sense that you do not teach the students but it is still tewchnolgy used in the classroom. I know that there are differnt softwares that can be used, but I am interested to know which teachers use and how efficant they are.

The concept of a Web 2.0 confuses me a little but I think that using it in the education of K-12 students can be very useful to some teachers. The concepts of blogs, wikis and mashups are a big part of this new web. Teachers can use blogs to help all of the students in the class and other class to communicate with each other about school related materials. Wikis let people team up and build websites together and control them together. This can help teachers who are together on a “team” communicating with the students all together. Mashups are a way to look up information from different websites all on one. This can help students look up information for reports and papers. I would use it because it is all very helpful.
I believe that Wikipedia is not a good source to use in school or doing school work. Even though anyone can use or change the information on Wikipedia which makes It inaccurate, the majority of the information is correct. Or at least the general idea of the topic is. If someone wants to look up something real quick just for general knowledge then Wikipedia is okay, but if someone were to use it for school, as a teacher I would not take it as an acceptable source.
The past week the most important skill I have learned is how to check if information on a website is accurate or not. This will be extremely useful in my educational career because when writing papers that require a website as a source I will know how to look if it is acceptable and my teacher will allow it as a source.

I believe using the Internet for research is very useful. There is so much information on the Internet. Even though there is a large amount of its is not useful because it does not come from a creditable source there is also a large amount that is legit and can be very useful to students. Websites like wikipedia or other websites that any person with Internet access can change the information are not good to use. Websites that you find at places like google scholar or any website that ends in .edu are very helpful and you can trust that information.
Other ways that you can use web-based resources to support student learning is online encylopedias. A few resources that I have used are encarta encyclopedia or websites that you can pay to see the information.
Being a middle school teacher a conern that I would have when supervising stuendts in a technology environment is that they would be on personal profiles sites such as myspace and facebook. These sites can be very dangerous when students talk to people that they do not know. Even if students think they could possibly know the person they are talking to, they might not. There are a lot of adults out there who find plesure in taking to children and wanting to meet up with them which can lead to the child being abducted, raped, or murderd.

As a teacher I could use use Outlines, idea maps, and storyboards in many ways. One lesson plan that you can use either one of these three would be when teaching my class how to write an essay. It does not matter if it is a narrative, expository, or persuasive essay. I can use an outline to set how the ideas and details of how I can going to write an expository essays (one where I am explaining something). I can use an idea map or a story board to write down ideas or any type of essay. They are helpful because they keep your thoughts in order and give you some type of organization. I can use word and inspiration to help me make exples of these for my students and they can hand write their own.
I would encourage my students to develop outlines, idea maps, and story boards when in the writing process because they are very helpful. They help put your jumbles thoughts on paper and make it easier for you to begin writing once all of your ideas are down. It gives you organization in your paper also so your thoughts are not all over the place.
Skills that I have learned in the last week are in Inspirataion, a program that I have never used before. I can use this program in my educational career and it will be very helpful when I need to organize and representing information about a related topic.

A lesson plan that would be easy to plan but would benefit the students very much is a typing lesson. I would take my fifth grade class down to the computer lab and we would use a program designed to help students learn how to type quicker and more accurately. I would explain how to turn the computers on and go through the start button to find the program which we will be using. Then explain how the program works, then lets the students type away! I would answer any questions that they would have. The technology used would be the computers and the application that the typing games are on.
The website www.fsu.edu is used very often by Florida State students and it set up great. There a few rules to follow when setting up a website, and Florida States homepage followed them great. One rule is limit colors. You still want to have enough color to make it interesting but to much bright color would be over kill, this website only uses garnet, gold, and black the schools colors. With the exception of images. Another rule is "Keep Text lines short" this was followed very well because the click able links are only one of two words and the news/events are very brief statements. A third rule is "provide emphasis" this is followed well because there are main topic and headings in bold font or enlarged more then average.
Through out my education so far, when writing a paper i was always told not to plagiarize. Meaning I could not read something out of a book and copy it word for word into my paper. This taking other peoples work and calling it your own and it is wrong. I would teach my students about this and we would do exercises to teach them how to write with their own voice so they don't take others words. Also I would setup a lesson on how to cite your papers, when you do take small points of someone Else's work, you just need to give them credit for it.

As a student I use Microsoft Word almost everyday. The main reason why I use it is to write papers. In English I have a paper due almost every class, and a journal due every Sunday night. I use Word as the application to write my papers in. I have seen teachers use Microsoft word when they need to make lists to show us when is to be done in class that day. Or maybe they will type the assignment on word and put it on the projector to show us what it is.
As a teacher is would chose to use Microsoft Word all the time in my classroom. It is the most common and a very easy word processor to use. I can use it to do almost anything. I can make charts, lists, write up assignments, make worksheets, and many more things. I would also try to teach my students to use word because it will be very helpful in their education.
I did not know how to add symbols, crop and edit pictures, make charts, and add tables. All of these things will be very useful to me in my educational career. I think they will be useful because they are things that can make my teaching a little easier for me to teach and for my students to understand. When using word you can do almost anything they will be necessary to helping me teach effectively.

A paragraph about why you think computers are an important part of the educational experience and critical concerns related to how teachers and students use computers. Use Chapter 1 to find appropriate terminology and get you thinking. Do you agree or disagree with issues raised in Chapter 1? Why or why not?
A paragraph on how you think you will use computers in your classroom. Use the textbook (Ch 1) to get ideas. What do you hope to learn in this class to help you achieve these goals?
A paragraph on anything you would like to share/discuss with your classmates, especially if it applies to this course, technology in general, or your future career. Just have fun!
I think computers are an important part of an education becasue computers are the future. One recieves an education to help them out in the future. Concerns about teachers and student using computers in the classroom are..
I think I will use computers in the classroomto guide my teaching. I will use drill and practice concepts to help the students practice the material once the learn it. To help the students understand the material I will use tutorials. Computers will also help me with my gradebook. I hope to learn how to use technology to help be become the best teacher that i can, and make it easy for my students to understand what I am teaching.
